About TRENZA

TRENZA is a Chicana/Latina based organization that was established in 1995 by a group of women from different backgrounds who wished to form academic, social, and community ties. Their purpose has been maintained and flourished into a strong foundation that provides academic and social support for the women on the UC Berkeley campus. We have become an autonomous group that incorporates the Chicana/Latina culture while instilling a strong drive for academic success. Although we are a non-political organization, TRENZA respects the views of its members. As Chicanas/Latinas, we are aware of the diversity among us and therefore we shall acknowledge the need to be all-inclusive and respect different political views and ideologies. The sisterhood we provide creates life lasting bonds that have resulted in the success of the organization as well as for each member.
